The short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell anything, and we keep what you share safe.

What we collect
We collect the minimum information needed to do what you've asked us to do, and nothing more.
- When you fill out a form (financial assistance, adoption inquiry, contact, newsletter signup): your name, email, phone if you share it, and whatever you write in the message field. This goes to our team email so we can respond.
- When you visit any page: standard analytics from Google Analytics — which pages you viewed, how you got here, what device you used. We don't see who you are personally. You can opt out using a browser extension like Google's Analytics Opt-out.
- When you subscribe to the newsletter: your email, sent securely to Beehiiv (our newsletter platform). We use it only to send the monthly newsletter. You can unsubscribe anytime from any email.
- When you donate: donations go through Givebutter. They handle your payment info — we never see or store your card. We do receive your name and donation amount so we can send a thank-you and a tax receipt.
What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing purposes. Ever.
- We don't use tracking pixels from advertising platforms.
- We don't run ads on this site.
- We don't use AI to write our content. Every guide is written by a real human (Winter Fate Morvant) drawing from real experience.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies for two reasons:
- Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and recognize repeat visitors. Anonymous, no personal data attached.
- Our newsletter popup sets a cookie when you dismiss it, so we don't bug you again for a few months.
You can clear cookies anytime in your browser settings.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we'll delete it immediately.
Your rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Show you what information we have about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your information from our records
- Stop sending you the newsletter (or just hit unsubscribe in any email)

Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Major changes (like adding a new platform that handles your data) will also be announced in the next newsletter.
