Throughout my nearly 17 years with Deuce, he taught me so many life lessons. I’m so honored to be able to share them with the world.
-
Be patient; never rush your dog.
-
Stay off your phone during a walk. Be present with your dog - you’ll be thankful you did one day when you no longer hold their leash in your hand.
-
Appreciate and celebrate the small things.
-
Learn a new trick every month. Practice training daily.
-
Never pass up a chance to tell or show someone how much you love them.
-
Listen with the intent to understand, not just respond.
-
Be patient with yourself and others.
-
Let love and gratitude guide everything you do.
-
Always be yourself.
-
If you have the opportunity and means to help someone, do it.
-
Always show kindness; you never know what someone is going through.
-
Friendship is a two-way street.
-
Never take things for granted.
-
No matter how much time you have with them, it’s enver enough.
-
Heavy grief is a direct reflection of how deeply you loved.
It wasn’t just incredibly important life lessons that I learned as Deuce’s mom. I learned that his happiness & wellness were improved by the following actions & intentions:
-
No matter how tired you are when you get home from work; they’ve waited all day to be with you. Take time to play with them and walk them.
-
Brush their teeth every. single. day. No excuses. It will pay off in spades as they get older. It can save you tons of money down the road as well.
-
Trust your gut. If it’s telling you something is wrong, or to get a second opinion etc - do it.
-
Don’t assume that every dog owner is as responsible as you.
-
Don’t assume that every dog you see on your walk wants to be friends or even approached. Always ask their guardian first.
-
It’s ok to tell people no when they go to pet your dog without asking. Always advocate for your dog.
